ABOUT THE PROGRAMME...
Paul Coles´Suite "a la española" Guitar Quintet is inspired by his love of the music of Spain and includes vividly contrasting and colourful movements. The programme presents the unusual and highly attractive combination of guitar and string quartet, bringing together some of the country’s outstanding musicians. Here is a chance to hear some great and attractive music ranging from the legendary Paganini to the modern day.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS...
Carlos Bonell is one of today's most celebrated guitarists. In 2007 he was awarded the prestigious Spanish prize Premio Trujamán for his work for the solo guitar, and in November 2008 presented the 3rd edition of the London International Guitar Festival, of which he is the Artistic Director. Since 2006 Carlos has been helping Sir Paul McCartney in notating and recording a concerto for guitar and orchestra, with the composition of the work due to continue through 2009. He gained prominence in 1981 through his recording for Decca of Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and Charles Dutoit. It has been repeatedly singled out as the finest version available.
 
Jack Maguire, recent co-leader of the BSO, former leader of the Royal Ballet Orchestra and a BBC recitalist.
Fiona McKinley, Fiona was born in Brisbane.she is Head of Strings at Canford School and a former member of the BSO. Previously, Fiona was a first violinist with the West Australia Symphony Orchestra.

The quartet appeared with Andrew Litton, solo piano, at Honiton festival and Bournemouth Chamber Music Society, and at the BSO pre-concert concerts. This quartet, also directed by Jack Maguire, presented a baroque concerto programme at Bournemouth International Festival and Sherborne School Concerts Society.
